Cyprus’s beaches are the
cleanest in Europe
According to a European Commission and European
Environment Agency’s report, presented in Brussels by
Commissioner for the Environment Stavros Dimas, Cyprus
had the best quality bathing water in the Mediterranean
in 2008.
According to EU data, Greece was second in the EU,
followed by Spain, France and Italy.
The annual bathing water report reveals that the large
majority of bathing sites across the EU met EU hygiene
standards in 2008.

Pafos Aphrodite Festival
“Pafos
Aphrodite Festival” opens its doors for the eleventh
year running, aspiring to offer once more a unique
experience to all music aficionados and to lead the
audience through the magical roads of lyric theatre.
On 4, 5 and 6
September 2009, the National Opera of Sofia will present
French composer Léo Delibes’ popular opera “Lakmé” at
the Pafos Medieval Castle. The opera, in three acts, is
considered one of the most exotic operas ever written
and its prelude is supposedly one of the most sensual.
The magic of the Pafos Medieval Castle, Delibes artistic
genius, Pafos Aphrodite Festival, high standard, the
long experience of the producer compose the parts that
guarantee the success of this year’s performances.
The opera is full of beautiful scenes, unique and
popular arias, grand chorals, ballet, intense passion,
sumptuous sets that carry the audience to the exotic
place where the story takes place, rising to high
intensity and complicated finales.

Seminar at Beijing
International Tourism Expo
During the Beijing International Tourism Expo a seminar
was carried out by the CTO in front of a large crowd of
journalists and travel agents to introduce the market to
Cyprus. It initiated enthusiasm and interest form the
Chinese market on Cyprus as a new destination.
